Konsekvens | Økt risiko for sedasjon, nedsatt kognitiv funksjon, nedsatte motoriske ferdigheter og hukommelsestap. Mulig risiko for paradoksale effekter. Økt toleranse for benzodiazepiner i etanolfrie perioder hos alkoholavhengige, misbruksproblematikk. Større mengder etanol reduserer krampeterskelen. |
Håndtering | Dosetilpasning: Benzodiazepiner bør så langt mulig unngås hos alkoholavhengige personer, unntatt i forbindelse med behandling av akutt alkoholabstinens.
Monitorering: Pasienten bør informeres om at reaksjonen på alkohol vil kunne bli langt kraftigere ved samtidig inntak av benzodiazepiner. |
Mekanisme | Additive farmakodynamiske effekter. Det finnes også ulike farmakokinetiske studier som viser både økte og reduserte konsentrasjoner av benzodiazepiner. |
